What information we collect
The Society of Family Medicine Bangladesh (SFMB) collects personal information when you apply for membership, sign in to the member dashboard, or write to us through the contact form on this website. This typically includes your name, email address, phone number, workplace, professional registration details, and any documents you upload as part of a membership application, such as photographs or certificates.
How we use your information
We use the information you provide to review and process membership applications, maintain an accurate register of members, issue membership cards, send renewal reminders and event notices, and respond to enquiries submitted through the contact form. Payment references you submit are used only to verify and record your subscription; SFMB does not store card or mobile-banking credentials.
Information collected from members is also used internally by our secretariat to prepare reports for the Executive Council, such as membership counts by chapter or category, and is not sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
How long we keep it
We retain membership records for as long as an account remains active and for a reasonable period afterwards, so that former members can be reinstated without re-submitting documents, and so that SFMB can meet its own record-keeping obligations. Contact form messages are retained only as long as needed to resolve the enquiry.
Your rights
You may ask us to review, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by writing to info@sfmb.org. Members can also update most profile details directly from the member dashboard. If you believe your information has been used inappropriately, please contact the secretariat and we will investigate promptly.
This policy may be updated from time to time as the Society introduces new services; the "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
